September is our election month. Every year, we reelect board members and/or elect new ones. This is your chance to take part in the future of Maple Grove Radio Club. We encourage board members to take an active part in committees, but the most important requirement is to show up at the monthly board meetings and provide your input. This is the first election since we’re back to in-person meetings, but because there are still some of us who would like to join by Zoom we will still do this with Election Runner.
In the education department, Gordy and I have scheduled our Extra Class for this year. It will be on Mondays, starting September 26th, and run for 12 weeks, ending on December 12th. Time will be 6:45 to 9:15 pm, and it will be on Zoom. We will also have 2 or 3 optional in-person lab sessions at the Chester Bird post. Our Technician class will start on February 6th. If you would like to take either of these classes, or help teach, email registrar@k0ltc.org
We are also getting back into holding exam sessions on Zoom. In September they will be on the 7th at 6:30pm and the 9th at 10am.
One of our favorite events is coming up on September 10th, the Osseo Lions Roar Parade. We use our radios to marshal the floats. It’s great practice using our radios and providing a public service.
And don’t forget to reserve October 2nd for the Twin Cities Marathon. We need a lot of operators to pull this off, so this is an all-hams-on-deck situation. Go to aresmn.org to register.
