As I write this, I’m getting ready to head up to Bluefin Bay Resort, where I’ll be on net control for the Beargrease Sled Dog race. Many of us are also going up to help with net control, road crossings, or checkpoints. With Covid, there haven’t been a lot of volunteer opportunities this year, so let’s make the best of it. We make a difference in a race like this, making sure all handlers and dogs are safe and accounted for.
We’re also getting ready to help the Chester Bird Post of The American Legion start their TALARC squadron. For now, the squadron will consist mostly of Maple Grove Radio Club members. The first board meeting of the TALARC squadron will follow our board meeting, where we will pick the officers of the new club. If you are eligible, please consider stepping up to be one of these officers.
It’s also time to start thinking about Skywarn. Metroskywarn.org will be announcing their spring training schedule, which will be on Zoom this year. Watch their website for the schedule. Roy Wood is also getting our net control team together, if you’d like to join up, contact Roy.
