As I write this, there is snow on the ground. You know what that makes me think of? The Beargrease Sled Dog race! This will be from January 30th to February 2nd. We need lots of volunteers for road crossings, particularly on Sunday, the first day. Contact Gordy, N0ZRD@mnyarc.org, if you’d like more information. We will also be discussing it at the club meeting.
We now have an operational shack! Thanks to TALARC, Tim Arimond, and his helpers for all their hard work. Any member of TALARC can use it, including honorary members. If you are a member in good standing of MGRC and not yet an honorary member, contact Stephen Cullen. We will be electing honorary members at the TALARC meeting on Tuesday, 6:30pm, before the regular MGRC meeting.
Our General class is just about over. After the exams on the 16th and 17th, we will have several new General class operators!
We have March 19th reserved for, “Midwinter Madness”, our annual Hamfest. Because of Covid, we have not been able to do this for the last 2 years. This is a significant source of funding for MGRC, and it’s a lot of fun! To get listed in the QST magazine, we need to make a final decision soon. The board has decided to go ahead with planning for this, so we will be having a final vote at the next club meeting on Tuesday.
